Sell Your Junk to Earn Extra Money
Does it seem like every time you go to the grocery store, prices have increased? Gas prices have fluctuated over the past four to six months, yet they are still quite high. My parents in California are paying $3.35 a gallon!
You are probably looking for ways to earn extra money, right? We all are! Have you ever considered selling your junk? The old adage “one person’s junk is another person’s treasure” is definitely true!
One of the best ways to earn extra money by selling your junk is to have a garage or yard sale. Widely popular, you can find them anywhere in your city each weekend. So what should you do if you plan to sell your junk?
Here are some tips that I have used myself:
Plan ahead. Throwing a yard sale together at the last minute can be disastrous. I would recommend planning at least two weeks in advance for a garage sale.
Make sure to check the weather! This can be easily overlooked. You would hate to have everything set up only to be rained out. Of course weather can sometimes be unpredictable, but your likelihood of having a successful yard sale is increased if you have checked the weather in advance.
Be open to negotiation. This is something that sellers forget quite often. This is one of the ways to earn extra money and lots of it. Just make sure not to discount your prices too much. This will also depend on what types of items you are selling.
Consider a flea market. Most cities offer this type of service on weekends. You might have to pay a small fee, but you may get more traffic than you would at a normal garage sale. Just remember that you will be limited on space, so take only those things that you are quite sure will sell.
